Who We Are
Devils Tower Climbing has been the premier climbing school and guide service at Devils Tower National Monument for over 20 years! In that time, we have guided thousands of individuals from 7 years old to 91 years young up to the Summit of the Tower and safely back down again! We provide all the necessary equipment needed to climb on the Tower and the expert instruction to facilitate an excellent adventure!
We offer family fun days, instructional days, play days, and summits. For the seasoned climber, we can take you to the top as many times as you can handle or teach you some new skills if you're looking to learn more about a specific style or technique. For those who have never climbed a day in their life, we'll show you the ropes, teach you the difference between a figure 8 and a BFK, and let you in on all the cool climbing lingo. We specialize in small groups and fully personal and customizable climbing days. You will never be put into a group of folks you do not know, and our full climbing days have no time limits! With no 8 hour restrictions, we have no limits to the amount of pitches or summits you can do! When you hire us, we are yours for the whole day! You decide how long the day goes!
All of our guides are certified professional climbing instructors who have been with us for multiple seasons. They all carry current climbing and wilderness medicine certifications.

Zack Smith

Born and raised in Northern Los Angeles, CA; Zack immediately found a passion for exploring and pushing himself in the outdoors. After high school, Zack discovered rock climbing and immediately fell in love with it. Zack's drive to climb beautiful features and formations has led him to travel across the country and abroad.

When he isn't guiding, you can find him out at the crag, running on a trail, or dominating a game of cribbage.

Guide Greg

Greg Petliski

I'm Greg, or The Artist Formerly Known As Hobo Greg. I've been pursuing my passion as a climbing guide since 2018, based in Joshua Tree National Park before coming to The Tower for the summer months beginning in 2021. I've climbed, hiked, biked, and/or paddled in some of the most beautiful terrain our country has to offer, and met some of the most outrageous, kind, and kindred folks along the way. I love creating experiences and memories with people, sharing my favorite places with them, and hopefully forming a deeper connection with the land and with each other.
